Description
A historic building and gift shop with a striking red roof is perched on a cliff overlooking a vast turbulent sea. Clouds float in the sky above the horizon while the whit capped wind driven waves roll in under the cliffs. Given the moniker “where Oregon began” it is the first land formation seen by Captain Cook on that fateful voyage in 1778. While it was named for the terrible weather conditions Cook encountered here, this basalt headland is a true gem of Oregon's natural beauty.
